How are you doing today???

It’s this greeting which made me stand at gunpoint in an alien country jus a couple of hours after my first step into that country. Greeting is a greeting…not talking!!!

Digging into the happenings of the event…

It was the 1st of Aug’06 and my flight jus landed in the O’Hare intl airport, Chicago. Got down the flight with mouth agape at the very sight of a titanic airport. It took 30 mins from the tarmac to the port of entry point. It was a labyrinth of an airport!!

After successfully grabbing the baggage from the claim area I headed towards the customs with my luggage on the cart and my passport in hand. The line was moving slowly but it never seemed so, ‘coz I was bzee feasting my eyes!!! It was like; I was jus confused which side to peek and whom to concentrate on :)…I guess I was the third person in the queue from the customs desk and it was then I could finally glue my eyes onto the customs lady.

Damn, she was 5ft 5in in height and was a looker!!! The uniform color made her look even more stunning making my eyes difficult to get off her. Usually fair gurlzz look more attractive in dark colored clothes, my thot!!!ok. Jus staring her, was eager to get my chance to hand my form over to her.

And lo!!! It was me standing in front of her now and was handing her my customs declaration form. It was then I remember, she with a smiling face started talking “Hi, How are you doing today??” and I jus managed to smile back and say “yeah…I’m fine”.

Saying that I had to head on towards the United airlines check-in. I checked in my luggage, grabbed my laptop bag and it was then I realized that my passport was missing. My luggage has been checked-in and I’m jus left with my laptop bag. By the time I started worrying I was grabbed by the security and was made stand still at a place being questioned!!! I jus was concerned that I shouldn’t be put in any of the US jails but sent back to India. Luckily after 35mins of struggle, my concern was interrupted by a girl who found my passport lying down at the customs desk.

To ponder on the sequence of events…when the lady greeted me saying “Hi, How are you doing today??” I was overjoyed that a lady from the foreign land had made a conversation. In that elated frame of mind I happily handed over the customs form forgetting that I have my passport in other hand. Poor passport feeling ignored had crashed on to the ground, hoping I would atleast look back. ;).

Moral of the story: “Never overlook the things at hand staring a beauty…u’ll not get her for sure also there is a chance of losing what u have at hand!!!”

But this moral never had applied to me…coz the lady who found my passport was a beauty too and I was staring her badly when she returned my almost lost property!!! But since then I’m cautious about being asked/greeted/talked… “Hi, How are you doing today??”.!!! :))
